Do we all coordinate in the long run?

چکیده

Abstract Players often fail to coordinate on the efficient equilibrium in laboratory weak-link coordination games. In this paper, we investigate whether such failures can be mitigated by increasing number of rounds or altering per-period stakes. We find that neither time horizon nor stakes affect selection. contrast previous findings, players are not more likely play above period’s minimum choice when is longer lower. also which socio-demographic factors and behavioral traits correlate most strongly with both first round subsequent rounds. Cognitive ability as measured a cognitive reflection test stands out characteristic associated coordination.

In the Long Run We All Trade: Reference Dependence in Dynamic Economies

We explore the impact of reference dependence on trade in dynamic economies, both theoretically and experimentally. We first show that under plausible axioms, dynamic economies generate a momentum effect capable of reducing or eliminating the initial trade-dampening impact of the endowment effect over time. We then introduce a novel experiment designed to test this prediction. Our results confi...

In the long-run we are all dead: on the benefits of peer punishment in rich environments

We investigate whether peer punishment is an efficient mechanism for enforcing cooperation in an experiment with a long time horizon. Previous evidence suggests that the costs of peer punishment can be outweighed by the benefits of higher cooperation if (i) there is a sufficiently long time horizon and (ii) punishment cannot be avenged. However, in most instances in daily life, when individuals...

How Long Do We Live?

Period life expectancy is calculated from age-specific death rates using life table methods that are among the oldest and most fundamental tools of demography. Yet changing age patterns of adult mortality in contemporary countries with high life expectancy provide a basis for questioning the conventional use of age-specific death rates ...
